I contacted the city on Monday when I received my bill and was told that they are using a third party vendor to handle the tax (both real estate and auto)collections. The company used the assessment info. of the property owner. I was also told that so many people are in default or refinancing they had doubts the information for the escrow was correct. I contacted my mortgage holder and was told by them, Bank of America that they had requested a bill but had not received one. I told him I had the bill and he asked that I fax it to their tax dept. Now what really happened? The address to pay our taxes is Atlanta, Ga. so I am thinking the city employee probable is telling the truth.
