The City of Richmond will host the 5th annual “Imagine Festival” at Broad Rock Park on Saturday, October 24, from noon to 5 p.m. Admission to this community and family event is free.

The Imagine Festival is an exciting event offering free food, dance performances, arts, crafts, vendors, and fun activities for the entire family. A unique component of this year’s festival is a softball tournament including participation from the Richmond Police Department and area community organizations.

“This is a perfect opportunity for the community to come together with City departments such as the Richmond Police Department and truly get to know each other in a fun atmosphere. The Imagine Festival helps break down the “Us – Them” barrier so that we can get to know each other and true communication, cooperation and collaboration can begin. I hope families throughout Richmond can come and enjoy this unique event,” said Mayor Dwight C. Jones.

The Imagine Festival began in 2005 as a community outreach event sponsored by Richmond’s Gang Reduction and Intervention Program. Since then, the City has sponsored the festival which has grown larger with each year.  This year’s partners include the United States Census 2010, La Gran D 1480 AM, Radio Poder 1380 AM, Selecta 1320 AM, the Virginia Asian Foundation, Rejoice 1540 AM and the GRIP program.

El “Festival Imagine” Celebra la Diversidad de la Comunidad en la Ciudad

La Ciudad de Richmond celebrará la 5ta. Edición anual del “Festival Imagine” en el Broad Rock Park, el sábado, 24 de octubre, desde el mediodía hasta las 5:00 p.m. La entrada a este evento familiar y comunitario es gratuita.

El Festival Imagine es un evento emocionante que ofrece comida gratuita, presentaciones de danza, arte, artesanía, exhibidores y actividades divertidas para toda la familia. Un componente único para el festival de este año será el torneo de softball con participación del Departamento de Policía de Richmond y organizaciones comunitarias del área.

“Esta es una perfecta oportunidad para acercar a la comunidad a los departamentos de la Ciudad, como es el caso del Departamento de Policía de Richmond, y verdaderamente llegar a conocerse unos a otros en una ambiente de diversión. El Festival Imagine ayuda a romper la barrera de “Nosotros – Ellos” para que podamos conocernos mejor y que de esa forma comience una verdadera comunicación, cooperación y comunicación. Espero que todas las familias de Richmond puedan asistir y disfrutar de este evento único,” dijo el Alcalde Dwight C. Jones.

El Festival Imagine comenzó en el 2005 como un evento dedicado a la comunidad y patrocinado por el Programa para Richmond de Intervención y Reducción de Pandillas. Desde entonces, la Ciudad ha auspiciado el festival, el cual se vuelve mayor con la edición de cada año.  Los socios de este año incluyen el Censo 2010 de Estados Unidos, La Gran D 1480 AM, Radio Poder 1380 AM, Selecta 1320 AM, la Fundación Asiática de Virginia, Rejoice 1540 AM, y el programa GRIP.
