About 200 people attended the 8th District meeting at the Satellite restaurant at 4000 Jefferson-Davis Hwy on Tuesday. Councilwoman Reva Trammell thanked the crowd and invited people to write their concerns on forms distributed through the crowd. She then introduced Sheriff C.T. Richmond City Real Estate Tax Bills Sent to the Wrong Address
Thanks to Page at Hills and Heights for writing this article:
“Were you as confused as I was to receive a Real Estate and Special Tax Bill from the City? Don’t call finance! They know of the issue and are working to get the bills to the mortgage companies. I called my mortgage company before I received the following info from Kathy Graziano’s office, and they confirmed that they were expecting to receive the bill directly.
The Department of Finance recently mailed all real estate bills to the property owner, including those bills intended for owner’s mortgage escrow accounts. This has generated a tremendous volume of phone calls for everyone. Finance distributed an explanation to the 311 Call Center and other departments who may be receiving calls.
The owner does not have to do anything. If the owner has an escrow account, do not pay the bill. The correct bill will be provided to the mortgage company for payment.

Post-Election Thoughts
Now that Kathy Graziano, Doug Conner, and Reva Trammell have retained their seats on city council, residents of the Southside look forward to having their civic needs represented and fulfilled by the experience each of these council-persons bring to the table.
Crime , public health, schools, infrastructure, and blight continue to be primary issues Richmond and the Southside endure. What will new mayor-elect Dwight Jones bring to the table? Will his experience as a delegate and preacher be enough to pull the fractured city back together?
Since the terms have been stretched to four years, it seems likely that each of our representatives will have plenty of time to accomplish projects without the distraction of campaigning.
Now is a time of great transition in the city of Richmond. Let us hope that our representatives will seize the momentum Barack Obama has developed nationally and utilize the spirit of change locally.

A report from the 4th District School Board Forum
It was a warm reception at St. Luke Lutheran Church on Chippenham last Wednesday, and an even warmer room for the 4th district school board forum, but about sixty or so residents turned out at the meeting and were very pleased to listen to the candidates discuss their perspectives on four questions written by parents of students living in the district and currently attending Richmond Public Schools.
Here is some transcription of what was said:
After welcoming everyone to the forum, council woman Kathy Graziano very wisely said, “The heart of the community is schools.” Following in suit Bill Pantele, who is endorsed by Mrs. Graziano, stated, “No city can be greater than the quality of its public schools.”
He also pointed out that “the last two chairs of the school board came from this district.” Adding, “We each have a stake in public schools whether or not you have a child or are working or retired.”
